Overview

Cambrex (www.Cambrex.com) is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, results-oriented individual to join our team of dedicated professionals focused on customer service and quality. The Director of IT will be responsible for helping set strategic direction, overseeing day to day activities to meet customer and colleague requirements, support and maintenance of existing applications, and development of new IT solutions. This position manages members of the business unit IT team, and is responsible for the performance management, development and hiring of team members. In addition, s/he is responsible for budget management of the department.

Responsibilities

  • IT lead for the business unit, direct and lead the analysis of business needs, and recommend appropriate IT solutions thru collaboration with global IT enterprise team
  • Lead the team to provide IT operation and support for the business unit
  • As a member of the global IT leadership team, support and execute to the company’s IT strategy
  • Help define priorities and risks for enterprise-wide IT initiatives to maximize the return on investment
  • Provide appropriate leadership, coordination and facilitation to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to scope
  • Work closely with the management and cross functional stakeholders to ensure timely completion of objectives
  • Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable legislation
  • Ensure adherence to IT standards and procedures. Ensure all work meets computer systems validation requirements, and any issues identified in QA or customer audits are properly addressed
  • Management and oversight of Computer Systems Validation/FDA Regulatory Compliance of Information Systems
  • Develop and test the IT disaster recovery plan in conjunction with the business continuity plan
  • Ensure all IT activities conform to IT security standards and all data and systems are properly protected
  • Develop backup/restoration/archiving plan
  • Prepare capital and operating budgets; monitor and track expenses
  • Negotiate service, support, lease, and consulting agreements
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in IT with at least 5 years in an IT leadership role (Director level +)
  • Experience with pharmaceutical / life science company a must
  • Working experience & management of regulated information systems & Computerized Systems Validation
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong overall knowledge with IT infrastructure, and applications
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Able to work in a global and matrix environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage, develop, administer, and track capital and operating budgets
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
